Being at a high altitude of about 15350 feet, Rupin Pass is considered one of the best high altitude trek in India. The high altitude in not the sole reason for its popularity among trekkers, the diversified number of sceneries and sudden variation in trails is also a reason to attract many nature lovers. Based on the intensity of the snow, this path might get challenging at times. Rupin Pass is an ideal trek for any adventurer as it offers an all-round trekking experience with alternating snow and rocky terrains throughout the trek. The delights of the tour include trekking amidst rhododendron woodlands, fields and ascending pictorial meadows. Trekkers have to come completely prepared for the snow and low temperature at the high altitude.

Arrive At Sankri Base CampReport at the base camp at Sankri by 5PM and complete the registration process. Sankri is 185 Kms away from Dehradun. One can get a shared taxi or public transport for Sankri from Dehradun bus stand early in the morning . It will take 7-9 hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun. Attend an orientation session given by the chief organizer/guide which will cover the information like rucksack packing, marching/walking technique and general awareness about the trek route. A comfortable stay arrangement is made at Sankri(6397 ft).
Sankri To Dhaula Via TalukaTransfer by jeep from Sankri to Taluka, and soon after reaching Taluka, trek begins towards Dhaula. Tents will be set up at Dhaula(5100 ft) for overnight stay. (13 kms, 8 hours)
Dhaula To SewaTrekkers start off the day with an easy trail filled with lots of lush green apple and apricot trees. The first half of the trek goes through beautiful farmlands and meadows. The second half of it takes you inside a dense forest with the sight of several streams filling your path. Overnight camp is setup at Sewa(6100 ft) in comfortable tents and trekkers are advised to sleep early to compensate for the next day's earl start. (11 km, 5 hours)
Sewa To JhakaTrekkers start early towards the hanging village of Jhaka. Trekkers may not find the trail to be as easy as the previous day. One has to climb multiple steep sections with occasional flat sections. The day tests one's stamina and endurance to the max. The last few steps of the trail pass through beautiful deodar & walnut trees. Jhaka is known as the hanging village as its located on the edge of a mountain. Overnight camp is setup Jhaka(7658 ft) in comfortable tents. (9 km, 5 hours)
Jhaka To Saruvas ThatchThis is the day on which the trekkers get to see a whole lot of surprises ranging from beautiful snow bridges to colorful Rhododendron trees. On reaching the Saruvas Thatch campsite, trekkers get to relax themselves sipping hot soup in a beautiful U-shaped valley with the sight of the gentle Rupin river flowing right between it. Camp is setup at Saruvas Thatch Campsite(10250 ft) in comfortable tents. (6km, 4 hours)
Saruvas Thatch To Dhanderas ThatchEmbark steadily on the trail with a view filled with snow clad mountains and lots of silver birch trees(Bhoj Trees). Trekkers will then enter the forests, move upwards through the forests and find themselves at the verge of U-shaped valley. The enchanting sight of thousands of waterfalls rushing down below you is just what you need to enter a moment of trance. Overnight camp is set up at Dhanderas Thatch(11680 ft) in tents. (9 km, 5 hours)
Dhanderas Thatch To Upper Waterfall CampThis day is more about learning and getting acclimatized than about covering more ground. The trail from Dhanderas to the upper waterfall camp is pretty short and can be covered quickly if necessary. But trekkers take time through the trail getting acclimatized and learning few simple snow trek hacks necessary for the days to come. Tents are pitched at the upper waterfall camp(14327 ft) and trekkers are advised to hit their tents early to compensate for the next day's early plan. (3 km, 3 hours)
Upper Waterfall To Rupin Pass To RantigadTrekkers start way early as this is the longest trail of the entire trek. The climb is pretty steep and demanding. The pace is kept at a minimum due to the low oxygen level at the altitude. The exhilarating climb ends at Rupin Pass (15350ft) with a mesmerising view. Trekkers relax and spend some time at the pass and then start the steep descent towards Sangla. The difficulty of the descent and the snow level depends entirely on the season though. After crpssing the snow-green border trekkers camp at Rantigad(13090 ft) and relax for the night. (12 km, 11 hours)
Rantigad To SanglaTrek starts from Rantigad towards Baspa river valley.. The descent is pretty rapid till trekkers reach the Sangla Village. The trail is filled with meadows and a small beautiful lake. Trekkers camp at Sangla village(8632 ft) for the night with a delicious meal to taste their accomplishment. (12km, 6 hours)
CheckoutAfter few farewell speeches and gossips, participants have breakfast and say cheese for a quick photo shoot, arrangements are made for the checkout.
